Analytical Chemistry Technician Full-time, Groningen NL
Do you want to play a key role in a dynamic analytical lab environment where you help drive scientific progress every day? We’re looking for an enthusiastic and hands-on Analytical Chemistry Technician to support the smooth operation of our analytical laboratory, serving both research and development teams. In this role, you’ll be the primary point of contact for the maintenance, upkeep, and troubleshooting of our extensive suite of analytical and preparative instrumentation.
The analytical group at our Groningen site consists of eight experienced, versatile, and dedicated analysts who play a central role in all ongoing projects. Each day brings new challenges – whether working with a molecule that has never been synthesized before or developing a method or technique to solve a specific problem. With our extensive set of equipment, we tackle these challenges collaboratively, sharing knowledge and expertise.
Our laboratory is well-equipped with two dozen advanced instruments, including walk-up LC-MS systems, SFC (analytical and preparative, chiral/achiral), GC-MS, XRPD, DSC, and preparative LC systems. In this role, you will:
Key responsibilities
- Ensure that these instruments remain in optimal working condition, through execution and administration of routine maintenance, first-line troubleshooting, coordination of service visits, and proactive issue detection.
- Be integral in management and setup of information technology services for the analytical equipment in collaboration with (IT) developers, and you will play a key role in minimizing downtime and maximizing the availability and reliability of our instrumentation for day-to-day use.
- When everything is operational, there will be opportunities to contribute directly to analytical measurements, method development, and/or preparative work. You will work closely with a team of chemists, analytical scientists, IT and logistics and be actively involved in the operational backbone of our lab’s productivity.
Qualifications
- BSc or MSc degree in analytical chemistry or chemistry
- Proactive mindset
- Strong technical skills
- Practical understanding of chromatography and mass spectrometry.
- Hands-on experience with liquid/gsa chromatography; preparative HPLC is a benefit
- Self-organized and result-oriented team player
- Strong levels of creativity, flexibility, confidence and reliability
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluency in English written & verbal; speaking Dutch is an extra advantage
- Customer and service oriented
- Eligible to work in the Netherlands
