Our GMP-certified development and manufacturing site in Prague is more than doubling in size in the coming months. Our colleagues in Prague are working hard to bring two new reactor lines online and to make improvements to both the facilities where these reactor lines are located and the operating systems to prepare for the next stage of growth.
“One of the most important elements in the development and manufacturing in medicines research is the timely delivery of high-quality active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs),” explains the Head of our Prague site, Petr Cermak. “To deliver on time, you need the capacity to manufacture these APIs and the people skilled enough to operate the production lines. These two new lines, with reactors up to 160 L, will enable us to keep delivering the requested APIs according to our customers’ required timelines.”
The R&D group and the Analytical Chemistry Department in Prague are pivotal when it comes to feeding the reactors and running smooth production operations. With the additional reactor lines, these other departments will grow as well. This opens up opportunities for more tech platforms to be developed at Symeres, to serve an even wider range of customers.
When asked what Petr dreams of adding to the Prague site one day, he answers: “As I’ve only been with Symeres for two months, it’s too early to speculate, and there’s a lot of expansion going on already, but personally I think chromatographic purification techniques would be a good future addition to our site, to further potentiate chromatographic purification at the scale available at the other Symeres sites. My experience with this technique has been very positive, and we already have people with expertise on site. I believe it can open up new possibilities for our clients, and it would be a good experience to add to our group as well.”
