Our experienced teams routinely apply many enabling technologies to the custom synthesis of challenging organic molecules. These include a range of organic chemistry and purification technologies aimed at increasing the efficiency of the chemistry and reducing both risk and environmental impact using green chemistry methodologies.

For example, we use flow chemistry  to efficiently run exothermic or photochemical reactionsBiocatalysis, chemocatalysis, electrochemistry, and photoredox catalysis are applied to access molecules that are challenging to synthesize via traditional chemistry methods. Symeres has also 30 years of experience in novel approaches to chiral chemistry. These include classical or biocatalytic resolutions, the use of chiral auxiliaries or catalysts, and chiral pool precursors for asymmetric synthesis. Novel automated purification equipment is standard in our laboratories, including chiral SFC on small to medium scale.

Available techniques for compound analysis and structure elucidation are advanced NMR spectroscopy, (chiral) UPLC, (chiral)(preparative) HPLC-MS, chiral SFC, HRMS, FTIR, optical rotation, and DSC.

Symeres uses enzyme catalysis for highly selective, sustainable transformations. Our team applies off-the-shelf and engineered enzymes across advanced intermediate and API synthesis, combining over 30 years of experience in chiral retrosynthesis.

Chemocatalysis
We accelerate discovery and scale with catalytic chemistry, deploying parallel screening in drug discovery and pilot-scale metal and organocatalysis for API manufacturing. These methods deliver atom-efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible synthetic processes.

Chiral Chemistry
Symeres offers cutting-edge methods to deliver enantiomerically pure compounds. We use classical and enzymatic resolutions, chiral chromatography, and asymmetric synthesis via organocatalysis and transition-metal catalysis. This approach advances projects from early discovery through scalable routes.

Electrochemistry
We apply electrochemical methods under mild conditions to generate unique reactive species. Using tools like the IKA ElectraSyn 2.0, our team achieves selective, efficient activation for complex intermediates, from small scale to multigram synthesis.

Flow Chemistry
At Symeres, flow chemistry enables precise control over reaction conditions in a continuous stream. This method supports safe and scalable syntheses for difficult or hazardous chemistries, including azides and diazonium reactions, from custom small-scale work to IND-enabling manufacturing.

Photochemistry
With over two decades of experience, Symeres uses UV and visible light to drive green, selective reactions. From high-throughput photoflow cycles to kilogram-scale photochemistry, we enable light-mediated transformations that bypass traditional barriers.
